HomeServices-Friendly VP

Friendly Visitor Program

This new program pairs individuals who may be feeling isolated or lonely with trained Rapp at Home volunteers who make in-home visits at least once per month. The length of the visit may vary, averaging at least half an hour, and the visit may include whatever is of interest to the two individuals: conversation, card games, sharing a favorite TV show, or taking a walk. The goal is to help people make social connections, feel included in their community, and avoid or mitigate the physical and mental health concerns that can be caused by isolation. This is not a medical or personal care service, and volunteer visitors cannot administer medications, do any lifting, or address financial or money matters.
