Health & Fitness

As we age, our health and fitness become even more important to us. Rapp at Home provides a wide range of services and activities to support our continued wellness and fitness.

We have offered presentations on:

  • Dementia and brain health
  • Palliative care
  • Advance health directives
  • What to do about hearing loss
  • Crisis management
  • Nutrition

We've also offered services, such as:

  • Flu, pneumonia, and Covid booster shots at our office through the Warrenton Pharmacy
  • Hearing assessments through our collaboration with The Lion's Club and Aging Together
  • Hands-on training for CPR and first aid
  • Hands-on training in the use of Narcan for drug overdose
  • Medicare and Medicaid support in collaboration with Encompass

Regarding fitness-related activities, a Rapp at Home group meets regularly to walk through the town of Washington, and we occasionally do more serious hikes. We've held demonstrations about how to fall, training on how to line dance, and training on playing pickleball.

Rapp at Home encourages Friends to participate in the activities provided by other community organizations, both for-profit and nonprofit. A for-profit organization offers Pilates, balance classes, ballet classes, and other fitness classes. The Rappahannock County Public School system provides sessions through its Commit to be Fit Program, and groups have formed throughout the county to promote activities like line dancing and pickleball. All of these contribute to an individual’s sense of wellness and general well-being.
